Memorial Day
For Memorial Day, several newspapers put together multimedia presentations:
• Colorado’s Fallen: “They were called to serve. Young Coloradans with bright visions of the future left family and friends for a distant battlefield. But bullets and roadside bombs do not spare the dreamers.” Video interviews and family photos. Denver Post
• Making it home: “After a 14-month tour in Iraq, Andrew Snow returned home to Florida to a welcoming party.” Two slide shows with audio tracks. Washington Post
• The Men of Bravo Company: “When they finally return this summer, the Minnesota National Guard will have been gone nearly two years, one of the longest stints of any guard unit since 9/11.” Washington Post
• Georgians killed in Iraq: “Georgia service members who have died in Iraq or supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.” Atlanta Journal-Constitution
• Area servicemembers killed: “Remembering those who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001.” Interactive graphic Kansas City Star
Still looking for other Memorial Day multimedia presentations; send ‘em my way if you see any.
Other fun Web finds:
• The Washington Post’s Date Lab is brilliant.
• So is the Indy Star’s IndyPaws. (Although there’s something a little creepy about people writing as their pets.)
• “Star Wars” turns 30! The Palm Beach Post gets all dressed up for the occasion.
