PBP reorganizing, putting Web before print
The Palm Beach Post is reorganizing its newsroom. From the memo sent to PBP staff:
Metro will become known as the Breaking News Department. It will be run by Paul Blythe, the new Breaking News Editor. Reporters and editors in the former metro department will no longer have filing to the print newspaper as their first priority. Henceforth, their first priority will be to file all breaking news to the Web as soon as possible.
Online first?! Huzzah!
As all newsroom reorganizations do, this one will go through some revisions, I’m sure. But I love the basic structure and focus on getting news out as quickly and accurately as possible.
Also from the memo, the PBP is hiring a few Web folks.

Great find! Thanks for pointing this out. Be interesting to see what the reaction is from the staff, how the change over goes and whether they become a model for the industry. They’re taking the Gannett write for the web and update for print to a new level.
Interesting stuff; bully for them for taking this big step, regardless of how it turns out.
As an aside, Erica, did you read the comments, esp. regarding your Tweet the other day about your conversation with Mr. W-way?
