It’s been a difficult news week

Feb. 6: Two police officers and three city officials were killed when a gunman opened fire at a Kirkwood, Mo., City Council meeting. The man was killed by police officers.
Feb. 8: A woman shot two fellow students to death before committing suicide at Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge.
Feb. 11: A 17-year-old is accused of shooting and critically wounding a fellow student during a high school gym class in Memphis, Tenn.
Feb. 12: A 14-year-old boy is charged with attempted murder after shooting an eighth-grader at a junior high school in Oxnard, Calif. The 15-year-old victim was declared brain dead.
Feb. 14: At least five students were killed and more than a dozen were injured when a former student opened fire during at a class at Northern Illinois University. The gunman killed himself.

These kinds of events make being a journalist difficult.
