Subscribe now and get 20 percent more news?

A friend told me today about a run-in with a representative of the Post-Dispatch. That representative asked if she subscribed to the paper; she does not. He asked where she got her news, she told him online. And then … he told her we don’t put all of the news online, and that she’s missing out on 20 percent of the news that’s in print.

What?

Did we suddenly run out of space to put things online? She did not, of course, believe him. (My friends are a pretty smart bunch.) But I’m very disappointed that anyone would even say such a thing to try to get a subscriber.
