I think using Twitterfeed is a good start for papers just getting into Twitter, and are not sure of the value of it. At the very least, it's a way to push updates to people who want to get them on their cells without having to pay a third-party vendor to do the same thing. It also is a free way to make your paper look good by offering up something like this.

But once you get past that, it's time to explore its uses. My paper began with pushing out updates via Twitterfeed. As I get my newsroom interested in Twitter (an uphill battle here) I intend to use Yahoo pipes to push out their 'live' tweets, mixed with the regular Twitterfeed updates.

And while we've always used Twitterfeed, we have also always mixed it with live updates from a real person (mostly me), especially on breaking news or special announcements.

I just wanted to defend Twitterfeed a little :)

One major flaw with Twitter: Bad customer support. Soon someone is going to take advantage of the situation, and many people will be fooled with false messages.

Of course, the newsroom response will be the usual: "We couldn't have known!"
