Conference break

I’m leaving for the Online News Association conference in Washington, D.C., early tomorrow. Follow the conference on @ona08, through podcasts and RSS. I’m sure folks will be live-blogging too — rumor is there will be free wi-fi. Check Twitter to see who’s doing what.

I’m looking forward to a day of Ruby on Rails, and meeting a lot of people I only know via Twitter and/or blogs. I also get to spend a couple of days with my brother, who lives in D.C. Yell (well, send a direct message via Twitter) if you’re in the area and/or at ONA!

In the meantime, I’ve been looking for a good opportunity to post this 1940s film about journalism.

The line about “Women find it difficult to compete with men in general reporting jobs” really bugs me.

Other than the sexism, not much has changed in 60 years — for better or worse. Discuss.
