Save the newspaper: Stop paying the staff
Toronto’s Metro — a free daily — laid off its four reporters and two managers. Unpaid interns get to stay. Metro’s group publisher Bill McDonald told the Globe and Mail that the paper will print stories from “a number of content partnerships,” including wire services, freelancers and the Toronto Star.
At some point, you have to ask: What price progress?
